N ov 2 00 4 Why the phase shifts for solitons on a vortex filament are so large ? ∗

چکیده

The phase “jumps” for solitons interacting on a vortex filament, observed in experiments, have been unaccounted for since more than twenty years. Using explicit formulas describing the interaction of two solitons on a thin vortex filament in the Localized Induction Approximation we show that an appropriate choice of the parameters of the solitons leads to large phase shifts. This result does not depend on the axial flow along the filament. PACS Numbers: 05.45Yv, 02.30.Ik

N ov 2 00 4 Final State Interactions in Hadronic D decays

We show that the large corrections due to final state interactions (FSI) in the D+ → π−π+π+ , D+ s → π−π+π+ , and D+ → K−π+π+ decays can be accounted for by invoking scattering amplitudes in agreement with those derived from phase shifts studies. In this way, broad/overlapping resonances in S-waves are properly treated and the phase motion of the amplitudes are driven by the corresponding scatt...

Simulation of an Airy Beam with Optical Vortex under Fractional Fourier Transforms

First, this study obtained the fields of an Airy beam (AiB) with optical vortex (OV) for a Fourier transform (FT) system and a fractional Fourier transform (fractional FT) system; thereafter, their intensity and phase patterns were simulated numerically. The splitting on each line of the phase pattern indicates the position of an OV. The results show that the OV position will change when the po...

Recent results on BPS solitons in the Higgs phase of supersymmetric (SUSY) gauge theories with eight supercharges are reviewed. For U(NC) gauge theories with the NF(> NC) hypermultiplets in the fundamental representation, the total moduli space of walls are found to be the complex Grassmann manifold SU(NF)/[SU(NC)×SU(NF−NC)×U(1)]. The monopole in the Higgs phase has to accompany vortices, and p...

Stable Higher-Charged Vortex Solitons in Optically-Induced Lattices

Vortices are fundamental objects which appear in many branches of physics [1] such as optics [2, 3] and Bose-Einstein condensates [4]. In nonlinear optics, vortex solitons are associated with the phase dislocations (or phase singularities) carried by the nondiffracting optical beams [5], and share many common properties with the vortices observed in other systems, e.g., superfluids and Bose-Ein...
